DESCRIPTION:Groundswell Scotland is excited to faciliate the Silver Surfsisters group (for women over 50) again in 2026 \n  \nSessions will be based at Belhaven Bay – meeting at the Shore road car park (opposite the community surf centre) \n  \nA chance to meet up with other women and connect with community and nature while playing in the sea. \n  \nSilver Surfsisters is a safe and relaxed space to develop your sea and self love practice. \n  \nHave fun catching waves on body boards with like minded adventurous women with a Groundswell facilitator. \nOur facilitators are also qualified Beach Safety lifeguards. In addition we also have volunteer surfsisters to help support you in the water. \n  \nYou can bring your own wetsuit/boots/gloves/body boards or for a donation to Groundswell Scotland you can borrow our kit (just list your sizes in the questionnaire). We have a good selection of 5mm / winter wetsuits and recommend doing this in the colder months. Remember a swimming costume to wear under your wetsuit. \n  \nWe’ll get changed at the grassy area with picnic benches near the car park then walk to the beach. \n  \nOnce we’re near the sea we will do our Groundswell groundings\, introduce ourselves and tell each other about our connection to the sea and set our intentions for the session. \n  \nWe will have time in the sea and then go around the group again so you have a chance to share any wisdom from the waves. After which we will walk back and get changed (there will be help available to get out of wetsuits!) \n  \nPlease complete the disclaimer and questions before attending. \n  \nAny questions email Becca: \n  \nrrobertson@groundswellcommunity.org \n  \n  \nWaves of Love \nThe Groundswell Scotland team

SUMMARY:Waves for Wellbeing
DESCRIPTION:Come along and experience catching waves on body boards with a focus on wellbeing and fun. \n  \nAll of our sessions begin with our groundings\, some mindful breathing and a check-in with how our body and mind are feeling. We look to help you to connect your body and mind to find your stoke in the water in a safe and supported way. \n  \nBefore we get in the sea we ask you to set an intention of what you’d like to find in the sea or what you’d like to leave on the beach. \n  \nSpending time on the beach and in the sea connecting with nature and other surfsisters will help you leave feeling reset and help you take what you need into the rest of your day/week/life. \n  \nIn these sessions we’ll use body boards to learn how to select your wave and ride it in while really connecting with the playfulness of surfing. On a body board you hold on to the board\, leap into the white water of the breaking wave and whizz into the beach. \n  \nYour legs are able to provide an extra boost as they are free to kick and you can use your upper body to steer the board. This takes away the pressure of surfing on a surfboard as you won’t be trying to stand up. \n  \nWe won’t go any deeper than waist-chest height so you can feel safe (you will always be able to put your feet on the sand) and it’s a really accessible way to have fun and play\, get ready to find your inner child! \n  \nOur sessions finish with our waves of wisdom so you have a chance to reflect on how you were feeling during your sea time and how you feel after. You will be invited to share this with the group if you choose to.
